port joli, ns

go.slow.flo is a mindfulness retreat combining movement, meditation, and eco-adventure. we spent a glorious weekend at the harrison lewis coastal discovery centre located on nova scotia’s south shore. the intention of this weekend was to immerse ourselves in nature, move our bodies, and slow down in stillness. it was an invitation to living more mindfully through the way we connect to our internal and external environments.

the location

this summer’s go.slow.flo retreat was held in on the ocean in port joli, on nova scotia’s south shore. the harrison lewis coastal discovery centre was founded in 2007 as a non-profit organization dedicated to the appreciation of the natural environment and rural living. this setting hosts a vast variety of habitats, providing home to an assortment of terrestrial, fresh-water, and marine species of plants and animals. it offers outstanding opportunities to explore and experience the living landscape, mindfully.

the accommodations

the harrison lewis centre provided rustic cabins, and camping options, along with a lodge with a full kitchen, washrooms, and hot showers.

the experience

this retreat experience was about finding balance between movement and stillness while being immersed in nature. we held workout sessions, guided meditation, mindset training, nourishing meals, beach time, hiking, foraging, a herbal mocktail workshop, bonfires, and stargazing. it was dreamy!

The go.slow.flo
retreat was everything I needed and more. A chance to getaway and escape from the hustle bustle routine we are all subject to. An opportunity to be open to meditation and get in tune to become more mindful of our thoughts. Whether it was tubing down the river, bootcamp, enjoying delicious healthy foods amazingly prepared by Autumn, to relaxing on the beach with great peeps. I was all in and enjoyed every minute. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for an opportunity to self connect and recharge.

This retreat felt like we were transported to a far away land of magic. Watching the meteor shower with no light pollution with a group of new people was so refreshing and nourishing.
